YOUR CHANGE IS HELPING CHANGE LIVES AT NORSTATE FCU
AROOSTOOK COUNTY – 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of NorState FCU acquiring its first coin sorter. The sole coin sorter was purchased and installed at the Madawaska location in mid-2014. For a small user fee, members and non-members could stop by and have their loose change sorted and redeemed. The user fees collected would then be tallied up at the end of the year and donated to a worthy cause. The inaugural year, NorState chose the American Red Cross as its recipient charity.
Since 2014, NorState FCU has added two additional coin sorters located in Fort Kent and Presque Isle and have continued to donate the user fees to Aroostook County charities.
NorState FCU was pleased to announce in early January 2024 that in celebration of the 10th anniversary, the recipient of the fundraising efforts would once again be the American Red Cross. Funds collected would aid disaster relief in Aroostook County.
We are pleased to share that the total funds raised from the 2024 user fees and the amount that has been donated to the American Red Cross is $6838.49.
“The American Red Cross responds to a disaster every eight minutes. Whether it’s a hurricane, flood, tornado or home fire, these disasters upend lives. Our volunteers stand ready to provide care and comfort at a moment’s notice,” said Brian Bouley, Red Cross community manager, Aroostook County. “We are so grateful to NorState Federal Credit Union and all those who supported this coin sorter initiative for Disaster Relief. This generous gift will allow the Red Cross to continue delivering critical help – like food, shelter, relief supplies and financial assistance – when people need it most.” For more information about the American Red Cross, please visit redcross.org.
NorState FCU is also pleased to announce that the recipient of their 2025 coin sorter fundraising efforts will be Aroostook County’s domestic violence resource center, Hope & Justice Project.
NorState FCU members and non-members can use the coin machines located in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and Madawaska for a small user fee.
