NorState FCU to Continue Golf Tournament Mission
AROOSTOOK COUNTY – NorState Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that it will carry on the tradition of the prestigious Cloukey Challenge, a golf tournament that has been raising funds for Special Olympics Maine to directly benefit the athletes of Aroostook County for the past 35 years. The tournament has long been an important event in the community, supporting Aroostook County Special Olympics athletes and raising awareness for their incredible achievements. NorState Federal Credit Union is proud to continue this tradition and further its mission of supporting the athletes and the broader Special Olympics Maine movement.
As part of the transition, NorState FCU will maintain the tournament’s focus of raising critical funds to support Special Olympics Maine’s year-round sports training, competition programs, and events for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Aroostook County. The credit union’s goal is to help ensure that events continue to provide both competitive and recreational opportunities, all while creating a lasting impact in the lives of our local athletes.
“We are honored to continue the Cloukey Challenge mission and carry on the legacy of supporting Special Olympics Maine in which all funds raised will directly benefit the athletes of Aroostook County,” said Danielle Hebert, NorState FCU Director of Community Engagement. “This tournament has played an important role in raising funds and awareness for an extraordinary cause, and we look forward to growing this event and reaching new milestones for the athletes it supports.”
The Cloukey Challenge has a longstanding reputation for bringing together golfers of all levels in support of Special Olympics Maine, and the NorState FCU Special Olympics Golf Scramble intends to build on this momentum with even more community involvement, engagement, and fundraising initiatives.
As in past years, this year’s event will take place over two days at two different golf courses. On Friday, July 11th, the first tournament will be held at Long Lake Golf Course in St. David and Saturday, July 12th, will be held at Mars Hill Golf Course. Golf registration forms and sponsorship opportunities will be made available in the coming weeks.
“We are grateful to Rene Cloukey and the former organizers and volunteers of the Cloukey Challenge for their dedication to this cause over the past 35 years,” Hebert continued. “Our NorState team is committed to continuing the tournament’s legacy and furthering the mission of Special Olympics Maine through this impactful event.”
Special Olympics is a global movement that provides sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The funds raised through the NorState Federal Credit Union Special Olympics Golf Scramble will directly support the efforts of Aroostook County Special Olympics programs, ensuring that athletes have access to the resources they need to thrive. NorState FCU invites golfers, sponsors, and community members to join in this incredible event and support our Aroostook County Special Olympics athletes.
