NORSTATE FCU AWARDS EIGHT $1000 SCHOLARSHIPS
AROOSTOOK COUNTY – NorState Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce they are awarding eight $1000 scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. To qualify, applicants had to attend an Aroostook or Northern Penobscot County high school, be accepted, and attend a two-year or four-year college or university and be an active NorState FCU member. “At NorState Federal Credit Union, we believe in investing in the future of our communities by supporting the dreams and aspirations of our local youth,” stated Danielle Hebert, Director of Community Engagement. “These scholarships are one way we can help students take that next step in their education and financial journey. We’re proud to stand behind the next generation of leaders and changemakers.”
NorState FCU is proud to announce their 2025 scholarship winners: Preston Defratus (Wisdom High School), Damien DuMont (Washburn District High School), Carter Gagnon (Madawaska High School), Olivia Locke (Presque Isle High School), Sylvie Morin (Fort Kent Community High School), Ashley Ouellette (Madawaska High School), Haily Poulin (Ashland District School), and Rowan Tanguay (Fort Kent Community High School).
Along with the application submission, students were asked to provide a testimonial on how their credit union has made a difference in their lives. Rowan Tanguay stated in her testimonial, “NorState helped me open my first account, taught me to save, and treated me with kindness and respect.” Damien DuMont mentioned, “NorState has given me the opportunity to learn how to manage my finances and has been very helpful when I had problems.” Ashley Ouellette also added, “I know I can always depend on NorState, and I will continue to use them as my primary credit union.”
